The most popular sport at PineTree is Paddleball. For the uninitiated, the game is much like Tennis but with wood or fiberglass racquets and a few other differences. Most people find it easier to learn than tennis, although it can be played at any level. On weekends in the summer, there’s always a crowd of players looking for partners or putting together foursomes for doubles. Anyone interested in playing need only show up at the courts and express interest in a game. Sneakers are the only thing you need to bring; loaner racquets are available in the office. For those who prefer the more traditional racquet sports, tennis is played at PineTree as well.
After a brief lull, Volleyball is regaining popularity. Regular play is scheduled for 11 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday during the summer. Anyone interested in playing should show up at the volleyball court at that time. Games at other times may be pulled together when enough people express an interest.
Sunday afternoons in the summer mean WiffleBall. One of our most popular sports events, the WiffleBall tournament runs each week from opening day Memorial Day weekend to the end-of-the-season finale on Labor Day weekend. Since it doesn't require any real sports ability to participate, it's a fun activity open to all adults, men and women alike.
Other sports include pentaque, darts, or swimming in either the outdoor or indoor pool, depending on the time of year. Yoga classes are offered on Saturday mornings during the summer months for those interested in a more gentle sport.
Tournaments are held in Paddleball and Tennis every summer and are open to all members, although generally broken into skill levels to make them more competitive.
